Well the simple answer there is that Neuer didn't break any rule, any more than appealing for a throw you know came off you isn't a foul. But yes, clearly football's cheating problem is way out of control.

    How England Sees Itself

Fucksake, I was gonna give the author the benefit of the doubt for that awful headline, which most likely came from a sub-ed, but she can't get halfway through without mentioning Churchill.

Which part? The bit about Osborne or the bit in brackets?

    This week's most embarrassing criminal

One of the papers seemed to think it was all down to the Queen. She was the root of all evil, Joss played royal events, ergo Joss must die. There's something in this, I feel.

    Definitive UK Curry House Throwdown

Oh, now that you've broken cover, this is very good. It's also about 30 yards off Brick Lane, so you can still look down your nose at the tourist riff-raff. Outside London, Gurkha Grill on Burton Rd was my second home when I lived in Manchester. Haven't been in a decade but friends still go...

Ha, yes. Though given how the little guy with the halfway similar name played last night, Ronaldinho had about as much chance of scoring.

That was as brilliant and as one-sided a demolition as that time last summer when a Spanish side beat an Italian one 4-0. Milan's tackling in the first half was so featherweight it was unreal. Hard to believe that if Ronaldinho had scored late on Barca would likely have gone out.

RVP's season is starting to seem much like last year – spellbindingly brilliant for the first 60%, then a decline towards the end. I realise I'm calling this a bit early, as we're only just in March, but I wonder if he's just not used to playing competitive football for a full season. His time...

DJ Shadow Kicked off the decks

I'm surprised to read that. Shadow was pretty emphatic back then that he wouldn't do ads, wouldn't lend his music to them. Can't say I ever remember seeing him in one either.

    Osborne/Credit Downgrade

Do the ratings agencies still have the same power? My impression (which comes more from an interest/understanding of politics than economics, was that the US downgrade had less impact than expected. Also, a different impact than expected.
