    good looking people with stuff.

I do this sort of thing all the time, always without noticing it until much later. I just assume that the girl in question has no interest. It's very annoying.

Nandos [split from disssensus drinks thread]

It's not though is it? The meat is of a pretty poor quality as I remember from my few visits. What I find a bit weird is that not liking Nando's is middle class snobbery. See: vs. (from the the chicken thread) Seems a bit contradictory, no? I only eat chicken I kill with my bare hands...

The Wire is over - discussion, spoilers inside

That's not really what I mean - I'm not not satisfied by the lack of conventional TV elements - dramatised soundtrack, plot explanations, "complete" story etc. Quite the opposite, I find those satisfying... I'm unsatisfied because I don't think it delivers what it's proponents claim it does -...

The Wire is over - discussion, spoilers inside

Have to say I don't think the Wire's all that really. I mean, it's a cut above most police dramas, but I get a vaguely unsatisfying feeling after watching. I always want to watch more, but often it just leaves me feeling empty and unsatisfied. It feels a bit cynically put together in that way...

I saw them at ATP last year and they were great, one of the best things I saw - fun, pretty euphoric and you could dance to it.

    Revenge on critics

Thought this was amusing/interesting: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/mar/12/foodanddrink "The worst response I ever got came from singer-songwriter John Martyn, early in his career, when he attacked me from the stage during a concert. Which all seemed a little odd, as I couldn't remember...

    buying a flat in london

Friends of mine just bought a pretty nice, though not massive, one bed flat in Clapton for roughly £250k. Someone else I know said she'd seen some shocking properties around Homerton/Hackney/London Fields for closer to £200k

    Fairtrade

"Fairtrade is not charity. Just by going shopping, you can make a difference." http://lifeandhealth.guardian.co.uk/ethicalliving/story/0,,2264187,00.html While I do buy Fair Trade products, I struggle with the political concept of it. Partly because of commodification-of-dissent statements...

    Gary Gygax RIP

Call of Cthulhu was brilliant. Any game where you get to go mad from too much staring into the horrors of the abyss is a lot of fun. Vampire *fucking* Weekend

I actually really like British Sea Power (or used to - their last two records are pretty patchy) and I'm not afraid to say it. So there. I'm sure you'll be all really excited to hear that Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend wrote the Oxford English Dictionary's definition of "crunk" while he...

Londoners! Shop suspicious photographers to the police

Did you see the chap who got surrounded by armed police when he got off the bus on the way home the other week? A concerned member of the public had mistaken his phone/mp3 player for a gun.
