    24hr party people Revelation!!

It's a great film, not a documentary but that's the point. It is educational and entertaining. I'm very interested in seeing the film being made about Curtis, not heard much recently but I hope they don't cast Jude Law. I thought the guy in 24hpp was the best bit of casting in the whole film.

    Early Kraftwerk advice

Get this, it's a doublepack of both albums.

SPARKS - the greatest UK glam/fey rockers ever!!

The Mael brothers are American Buick, but they had that glam sound pinned down early on like Roxy Music and Bowie. I really like the album Georgio Moroder produced in 79 No.1 In Heaven when they started going in a more electronic direction. Ron had a deal with Roland for using their synths and...

    Delia and Gavin.

There's a Carl Craig remix of Delia and Gavin coming out soon.

    Rolling crate digging triumph thread

Someone's selling a copy of the Red Universal Indicator for € 175.00 on Discogs. I picked up Universal Indicator Red along with Moroder's Munich Machine LP and The Drexciya mix of UR's Electronic Warfare for £2 at a record fair in a box marked 'disco'. That works out at 66 pence each! Yesterday...

    new underground resistance is amazing

S² - Slide is proper hi-tech funk biznizz, and there's been a spate of decent funk fuelled 7"s of late, like May Ya Ya as well as some quite ropey stuff. UR never went away though and will continue to amaze and dissapoint in equal measure, but when they're good they're untouchable.

    Coldplay "sampling" Kraftwerk.

It's called I Was A Robot, I've been meaning to pick it up since Ralf and Florian launched legal procedings. He must have hit a nerve. I'm not sure about the Yamo stuff though, did anyone pick up Karl Bartos's solo stuff? Much better imo...

    Coldplay "sampling" Kraftwerk.

Yes it's dreadful. A much better book (imho) is Kraftwerk: From Düsseldorf to the Future by Tim Barr (former Future Music editor).

    Ghetto Tech anyone?

This is the place to go for all things ghettotech. There are producers from all over Europe (it's based in Germany) as well as Japan and the D who regularly post mixes.

    Delia and Gavin.

I think the DFA have a similar arrangement with EMI to Kling Klang, it's released under exclusive license to them. I reckon they are quite commited to vinyl actually, they usually release 12"s as quality heavyweight pressings.

    traum/trapez in london this saturday

Good luck with this, triple R and Steve Barnes have played my mates' night Kliks here in Brighton, should be a good one. Monolake and Sleeparchive are also playing live that night but it's a ticket only affair and I think it's sold out. You should post this in the little detroit club listings...

records that sound better at the wrong speed

There's a track on Plastikman's Musik lp I always prefer on 45 rpm at -8 called lastrak. In fact there's loads of Plastikman stuff which could be played at either speed. Digital's remix of Relics by Studio Pressure is one I was never sure what speed it should be played at, as at 33 it's like a...

    Killing Joke

He was doing stuff with Jimmy Cauty and Alex Patterson in the early days of the JAMMS/KLF and is very much involved in the first few ORB releases. I think AP was KJ's roadie.

Rave mix ('90-'92) for your pleasure.

Thanks for putting this up, i just listened to side a and went all misty eyed. Can't wait to listen to side b turned up loud tomorrow especially for the darkcore ending.

    breaks

I think that Brighton, where I live is currently seen as the spiritual home of breaks, which began concurrently with the arse end of big beat. Krafty Cuts is apparently the biggest dj in Australia and used to run a record shop and label here called Happy Vibes Recordings (which was essentially a...

    wonderful graffiti

Here's a link to a wonderful site called picturesofwalls. It's just a collection of interesting graffiti from all over the place. I particularly liked this piece of billboard subversion.

    Optimo "Kill the DJ"

I think Optimo will become to this decade what the Heavenly Social was to the last. It's a fusion of bar and club culture which has been a convergence point for people from disparate scenes. I saw Twitch from Optimo at Sonar 4 years ago, playing off a laptop and decks and it was really going off...

bleep 'n' bass -- an anachronistic term?

Here's a rather neat summary of Yorkshire Bleeps and Bass c/o the Wikipedia and written by a friend of a friend who hails from Leeds. The scene was localised and the sound was indeed short lived, but as has been noted elsewhere in this thread and in the article, it was influential on the later...

bleep 'n' bass -- an anachronistic term?

Not to mention Nightmares on Wax's 'I'm For Real' which samples Newcleus 'Jam on It'. There's also the Man Machine record which features Forgemasters (Rob Gordon again) and is clearly influenced by Kraftwerk. I think the Unique 3/grime thing is interesting. If you check out the track Rhythm...
