Cornelius, Art, for me especially music, is one of the few things that continually makes me feel humankind is worth the trouble of worrying about. "Political" art rarely gives me that feeling--usually it seems tacky, ill-informed, often embarrassing, usually weak, and almost always unmoving...

While I could easily purge 300-400 CDs, I still have the constant feeling that I've scarcely heard anything---which, relatively speaking, is quite true. Still, while bad for the bank account, it means my primary passion/addiction/source-of-faith-in-humanity will never get boring.

Neat find. Still prefer the original--this version lacks a little of the energy/immediacy (mainly by holding the same tone for so long, lacking the quick analogue-syth shifts of the original) but this version is a cool tune. I guess this is sort of like the version of the track had it actually...

Glad you're digging it, all. As for expected homogenaeity of DNW--I think just like most of the music that shared the post-punk spirit, it's pretty broad, from what I can tell. I'm hardly an expert. Neonbabies at the least deserve some proper reissues, heard outside of Germany. For my money...

Just a bad habit I've developed over the last few years. I'd say music from the "post-punk era" makes up maybe 15% of my listening, but for whatever reason, as far as mix-making goes, that's the gospel I've most often preached the last few years. That culminated in making a 10-CD, 460-band box...

Yes, they are. I also find that Colin Newman record and David Thomas's 80s solo records very underrated, so I try to work them into as many mixes as possible.
