This one is a classic. Sounded brilliant on a soundsystem, it's got just the right amount of 'space'. Thomas Esterine

    UK Soul : Soundsystem Classics

During the late 80's and early 90's, there quite a few UK soul records that were aimed at sound systems or at least played heavily by some sounds. I think this sort of stuff developed in parallel with jungle, often using the same breaks. Perhaps the most notable examples are from Soul II Soul...

    Vinyl dying (for DJ's)

Not much better with 320 and quality headphones on an ipod classic which has an even poorer DAC than they used on older ipods. How I miss my iRiver H340.

    Chutney Music

Likewise to be honest. I like of whole melting pot of music in newer chutney indian, soca, reggae all in one. I've listened to random mixes on youtube now and again and some of what is hear is quite good. I really should have compiled a list as I was going.

Indian influences in the reggae 'nuum

I read somewhere there that calypso was the original music to Trinidad, then the indian influence lead to soca. Kind of like a 'nuum of sorts. I think it was from one of the links from this thread. Then there's soca + reggae giving rise to chutney (and chutney needs its own thread).
