I've tried three differnet types now and would recommend getting one with as high a percentage of broad bean is as possible.
This one is 35% IIRC and the one to go for, proper thick and funky and hot.
There is one that's that popular brand that do loads of sauces but it's runnier and not...
Roast chicken stuffed with loads of chopped preserved lemons, garlic, chorizo, paprika, olive oil and a little dried chilli was amazing - the sickest roasting juices. Going to try a stew version of this on thursday, super easy. Maybe some cubed turnip in there too.
Wicked! I always have Pixian bean paste, Tinjiang preserved veg, sesame oil, soy, Cooking wine, Sichuan pepper, ginger and garlic and that's about all you need for lots of stuff.
Exactly. I like thighs and drumsticks in curries but breast is so whack. (I have poached it for coronation chicken before but that's about it). Yr recipe sounds good tho, and easy.
I made the steamed chicken with chinese sausage and shittakes last night from the FD book and it's wicked. Really easy, although she seems to complicate things slightly by adding some ginger to some water or something so I'd day miss that bit. I also added chilli which may be a bit of a...
I had barbecued mackerel with pickled rhubarb ar the weekend - definitely works with something a little sweet or sweet/sharp. (Often put with gooseberries also I think).
Nice one.
Frizzante at Hackney city Farm on Thursday does very nice farmhouse style Italian 0 home made pasta, lovely meat and veg and v good house red for £13. It's in a really, casual, unhurried setting also.
Brawn on Columbia road is really nice too - relaxed French inspired stuff with nods...
I have the new FD book and it's ace. It's got a few familiar things from earlier books with lots of new stuff, mainly simple veg based dishes and some meats too. Very nicely laid out also, simple clean feel to it. More of a 'normal' feel to it than the Sichuan one, which you have to invest a bit...
I read Junk/y last year and thought it was amazing, started reading his books in chronological order. You should definitely check out Junk and Queer - first two books which are highly autobiographical and not written weirdly. The Yage Letters fits in after Junk but is a bit of a footnote rather...
i'm on a bit of a meat curing tip at the mo and got some duck prosciutto hanging in my loo. Seems pretty piss easy - a day of salt cure in the fridge then hang for a week in muslin...will post a pic when done.
