Pointless But It Does My Head In

My work have recently commissioned a consultant to do a small/medium report on something and i was our contact for her. We've got the report (10 days work @ 500 - £5k) and there are quite a few typos in it, it isn't very well written, clunky and basically I could have done a better job (or at...

Have you seen this with him in? Amazing. I love his face, looks like he has eye-shadow on. In this you get all the wise crackery combined with some Busby Berkley choreographed numbers which are great.

    Iain Sinclair

Really? Weird. I've seen him like 4 times and he seemed fairly assured. He's got a bit of a middle class, self depreciating, brainy uncle thing going on in in manner but under pinned with a bit of confidence, humour and erudition... Having said that the one thing he wasn't great at was a big...

    Iain Sinclair

Has anyone got a link to his beef with Ian McEwan that is referred to earlier in the thread? I've started 4 and finished 1 (the Hackney one). He is a good and entertaining speaker, tho, would recommend him in the flesh. Funnier than on paper. The Hackney one I could relate to a bit, knowing...

    what are you reading now?

Yeah, definitely. It's really demanding cos of the language, so when you have read even ten pages it feels really intense, gruelling so you kind of empathise with all the stuff he's going through, all the murk and filth, the dogs, the remembering of the times past, the relationships started and...

    London pubs

Been going to Old Fountain as after-work local - just off City Rd. It's had a refit inside ad looks a bit boring but wicked beer selection and they have salt beef sarnies that look absolutely massive...not had one yet but proper huge, with mustard and gherkin on soft white bread for 4 quid or...

    what are you reading now?

Gave up on 2066 in the murders section, found that I'd stopped caring. Just finished Riddley Walker (gruelling in a way but amazing). Now either The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin or Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Woolf. Not decided which any recommendations?

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

I watched Ivan's Childhood last night and I must say that it's one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. Panning shots of silver birch that looked amazing in black and white, like an abstract pattern, close ups of faces. Some of the shots almost looked like still photos, beautiful but with...

Does anyone have any experience with ankle pain? About 40 miles in to Brighton the inside of my R ankle started to hurt with every rotation of the cranks. Really painful by the end - feels very much like the cartilage there is sore have rubbed against something the wrong way. Still painful...

Cooking tips and wonderful flavour combinations

I've had a (very nice) coffee and cake at the Angel one yeah. The piccadilly one (NOPI) looks very dear/overpriced so i'm not sure I'll head to that. Small plates so you end up spending 30£ + i imagine easily.
