Big/significant techno/rave scene in lots of those cities. Kalamazoo had Black Nation records, Columbus 21/22 corp, Minneapolis had the crew around Woody McBride. And Kansas bred my fav "new" techno producer, Huerco S. So big up to flyover country.

Yeah it's a good story. He really was a grade A jerk, which arguably made the whole show a bit more entertaining until it became too much. I booed at him when I saw him at his comeback Tour. I normally detest people who do that, but that was just too much for me.
