Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Hot Fuzz - British comedy in funny and well produced film shock. Jamon Jamon - Fairly twee love story saved by some outrageous scenes like a fight to the death with giant hams. Tie Me Up Tie Me Down - Typical Almodovar, but then that's not really a bad thing is it? Actually probably one of his...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

I thought Nio over Best Foot Forward worked well actually - probably my favourite track on the album. It sounds sort of out of tune which actually works really nicely. Comes across as sinister, but without just relying on showerman bars. Still, horses for courses n all that.

BROKEN BEAT - breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

I'm just listening to the Bugz album for the first time in a while and it occurs to me that it deserved much more praise than it got on release. It's basically back-to-back good party tracks. I struggle to pick out stand-out tracks cos the whole things just so on point, but at a push I'd say...

Films you've seen recently and would unreservedly recommend:

Finally got round to seeing that Art School Confidential by Terry Zwaigoff and Daniel Clowes yesterday. Not quite up the dizzy heights of Ghost World, which is one of the defining films of my teenage years, so this didn't really stand a chance, but still strong. It's strange, but the...

Very cool episode that last one. I'm kicking myself for not going to see Adem and Juana Molina when they were up in Leeds now though!

    Rave revival?

-edit- made a post that was waaaay too argumentative but the gist is: Analysis is good and so is discussion, and perhaps I was a little short-sighted to claim that people were over-analysing. But since I've now taken that back then how about we discuss the musical points I raised instead?

    Rave revival?

This. Seriously, I mean if you're moaning so much about this stuff then what did you do in 2006, 2005, 2004 when coldplay and fucking razorlight were the UK's "real music" darlings?! No, I don't mistake it. Two years ago the closest my union got to Indie was a crap affair called Brighton...

    Rave revival?

I think some people are over analysing this stuff. In my first year at uni the majority of student nights consisted of a load of drunk people singing along and dancing badly to cheeeeese. I mean S Club 7 and Abba - really bad stuff. Now it's all Erol Alkan and Annie Mac down at the union...

DUBSTEP- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Anyone heard the Burial remix of Jamie Woon's version of Wayfaring Stranger? Hot. That's a link to the original, but the Burial remix is just unbelievable. If Burial chooses to work with vocalists in the future I hope it goes along these kind of lines...

    rinse fm playing minimal techno...

I heard Fuda guy and JME over that Princess Superstar/Mason electro track Perfect the other day. Not quite as much of a suprise as minimal, but still a bit of a shock.

    Wiley retiring?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra/richievibevee/ Interesting little interview with Wiley by Cameo sitting in for Richie Vibe Vee. Man sounds pissed off, genuinely. It's an hour and ten minutes into the show. Whatever Cameo throws at him Wiley doesn't wanna know, haha.

    Wiley retiring?

Any thoughts on the new Tunnel Vision? There are some of the best tracks of the series on there to my mind. Sister Sister and Paranoid Remix are two that stand out for me, as well as the more obvious ones like Sorry Sorry...

See, I like Riko. He brings something a little bit different to Grime mc-ing. Actually I think it's a bit of a shame his mixtape never materialised.

    slix- down vol. 1

Yeah I love down too. Got it on a whim for cheap while picking up a couple of other mixtapes but it definately stood out as one of the better Grime records of two double oh six.

    the Ess Oh Vee!

I have to say I really don't mind s o v. Infact I got the white label of Shh! when it first came out and played it for ages. The production on that track is wicked. And if you haven't heard the IG Culture remix of Random then you haven't lived. A Broken Beat monster! I only aquired the Public...
