I'm having them CDs! Glad I didn't get the vinyls, although I did get a coupla mp3s already but what the heck. 'Monapoly' is real simple, but absolutely devastating. D-Malice is coming consistent.

    Great 2 Step?

I loved that Bette Midler tune too. Yeah, I think 'Sweetest Taboo' was 99, remix was by MJ Cole I think. One my favourites because it also fetaured Glamma Kid.

    Great 2 Step?

The 101.8 on the cover might be a clue... Freak FM and EZ perhaps. As you said they are mainly US tunes, so I suppose it's not that much of a stretch.

    Great 2 Step?

It looks more like one of those 3 to 4 storey housing estates than a tall house. The tracklisting seems pretty indicative of what was being played on pirates around the summer in 97, doesn't seem to me to be appeasing the house crowd too much. I think they're just staying away from the speed...

320 Mp3 vs. Wav vs. FLAC

What that man said. For the extra buck you essentially get access to the actual wav file. Takes about 20secs to de-code the FLAC back to wav. On good quality audio equipment there is a noticeable difference between 320mp3 and FLAC - FLAC is CD audio quality, not compromised in any way.

Leaving England, ergo Dissensus for a while

Dude, we never did get round to arranging going to the Ghanaian music store in order to hum tunes we'd heard on pirate to a bemused person behind the counter. I hope you have a great time over there my friend!

    grime tapes upload thread

Completely right. Don't listen to me I'm just trying to be clever. It doesn't sound that old a set though, even though none of the tunes seem to be from after 2000. I'm just surprised they are so sophisticated this early. I have a number of tapes from different crew in 2000 and none are anywhere...

WOAH! Dizzee, Sharky and Hyper over Masterplan and US Allliance... WOAH! (The set is likely to be from 2001 (the first track is Zinc's 'Kinda Funky' which came out mid 2001). Some of the tunes are from much earlier, seems like the DJ's simply playing some old school too).

on the London FM dial ?

I think that was Beezy, I was listening to him in the car. Completely deranged but actually quite compelling. I haven't heard him for years. The DJ was good, the dubstep he was playing was very melodic, and one track had a gorgeous full vocal. Anyone know which DJ is was (9-11pm on Tues)? I was...
