Tune ID: All My Life I've Lived in the Ghetto - massive acid soul number

Yeah, I though he might be talking about Marlena Shaw.

Yeah, it was definitely Chipmunk's mixtape, thanks. Found Marsta's mypsace too. It is a shame that LOK doesn't have one himself. slackk I saw that OO Squad video! I'll up one of the other sets.

The Total Package sets are really good; loved both Ivan O and L.O.K's flows. LOK's beats were incredible too - I'm sure I saw his name as producer for a track on a recent mixtape, but I can't find a myspace.

    Funky/London/UK House

I get your point, I guess I just associate producers like Ferrer with the house scene although as you say they are in line with US garage. I dunno, it is Funky though.

    Funky/London/UK House

I think garage was pretty funky already. I think the main problem with that moniker would be that the DJs playing this style would certainly (up until very recently) have been playing a large amount of US house records in their sets, as opposed to their being a direct lineage from garage. I...

    London Classics 1991-NOW

I always associate these / three / tracks together. I guess they must have been released pretty close to each other, and they cemented my ukg fixation. I only found out the name of this garage classic last year, after a decade searching for it. I had previously been known to sing the piano riff...

    London Classics 1991-NOW

This one brings me straight back to 94, one of my absolute favourites. When I think of Dillinja, I think of this. Electrifying and terrifying.

    London Classics 1991-NOW

One of the most rewound jungle anthems ever. To this day I can still beatbox every amen edit. First heard it on Grooverider's show on Kiss, and he rewound it three times, as did every other DJ at the time. It still gives me a rush to hear the punch of the bassline.

Footloose was talking about this one on his house show on 1Xtra. I didn't know it by name, but this is another previously anonymous classic from the hardcore era.

This pic is from performace car magazine EVO. I think the picture is from BBC studios in West London. Skepta just randomly in the background. http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evolongtermtests/223455/vauxhall_vxr8.html

    Solo Piano Pieces

I was having a rather emotional time a few years back, and I decided to make myself a CD full of moving, minor key piano pieces. 'Metamorphosis One' by Philip Glass was on there, as was Brian Eno and Harold Budd's 'Not Yet Remembered'. I'll find the tracklisting and post it, although I must...

    London Classics 1991-NOW

The Steve Gurley anthem, but they were all wicked really, especially his mix of Hyperfunk. Dem 2's militant alias, after thousands of plays I think this tune is hotwired to my central nervous system. Tim, Skycap's Endorphins and M Dubz's Body Killing are possibly two of the most sublime...
