    Wiley---2nd Phaze

How were they not? Simply because of the tempo? You said yourself dizzee was doing the grime thing on the beats - maybe the tempo was slowed down on some of the more introspective type tracks, but I don't think that alone can disqualify something as grime.

    Wiley---2nd Phaze

I don't follow you logan. If the production on those tracks were grime, what was it about the mcing, or the attitude, that suddenly meant they weren't grime? there's such a diversity amongst styles of mcing on the scene that I don't think you can dismiss something as 'not grime' just because...

Pink Floyd DSOm - greatest album ever?

Personally, Wish You Were Here is my favourite Floyd album, and my favourite record ever. Dark Side is great (though I prefer Animals and Meddle), but nothing feels as succinct, sublime and perfect as Wish You Were Here does to me.

What are the key 'indie' albums of the 00s..so far

90% of the suggestions in this topic that I've heard top the WHITE STRIPES. I mean people are talking Kid A, seriously.

What are the key 'indie' albums of the 00s..so far

also I dunno about 'key', but Fiery Furnaces Blueberry Boat and GYBE's Lift Yr Skinny Fists both probably fall under indie, and are both fantastic records.

What are the key 'indie' albums of the 00s..so far

totally seconded; fantastic album that should've got a lot more press. I like it a lot better than the Postal Service album for that sort of gloopy electro-acoustic indie deal. And unless they're not considered 'indie' anymore, isn't Kid A the obvious answer to this topic?

seeing grime live is almost always disappointing

I remember reading about a Ghostface show this year, I think in NY, where he didn't come on til four hours after advertised - the support act got pelted with bottles, his crew started throwing them back into the crowd and it all kicked off.

I miss silverdollar and poplife, but my favourites right now are probably dot-alt and prancehall; both updated pretty regularly, and both top stuff. Also mine is wicked (ahem :o), and gets updated every few days. throughsilver.blogspot is good stuff, though nothing to do with grime or dance or...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

I thought the deal was that roll deep were suspended for always having meridian, slew dem, cold blooded etc on their sets, but slew dem still had their slot (they'd just been put on the schedule at that point). besides, roll deep are back on now right?

    METAL! Discuss

BORIS are fucking immense - glad people are mentioning them. It's not strictly metal like a lot of their stuff, but people should check out their album Flood, it's all minimalist drone-type post-rock stuff, but really lush, precise and beautiful - like if Sigur ros were trying to play Earth or...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

That's what I want when I listen to Ghetto ;) In fact, with Roll Deep not being on rinse and Ghetto being all over Fuck Radio and on recent Ruff Sqwad sets, he's probably overtaken Skepta as my favourite MC right now. i love his No Base vocal too. The cover of the Tinchy one scares me because...

    Indie Rock or wot?!?

dunno man, i find win butler sounds a lot like david byrne though. indie types to check out: saturday looks good to me - charming band - first album all your summer songs was a lot like a weird lo-fi guided by voices/beach boys hybrid, but they really discovered their own sound on every night...
