Modern d'n'b is rubbish - tune ID and a moan from an old man

I stand corrected- at least three people were into it ;) i thought it was a good example of what bassnation was talking about in the dubstep thread- a point where muso tendencies override the idea of making music for people to dance to. but tbh i'd nearly stopped paying attention by then. in...

Modern d'n'b is rubbish - tune ID and a moan from an old man

because it sounds just like that steve alexander crap reinforced released about 10 years ago, and no one was into it then.

    Dubstep

HA! This is classic. Doesn't really work if you apply it to techno though for instance... I think it's "fusion" rather than jazz that means the game is up, eg when bowie started doing drum n bass you knew it was fucked.

    Ike Turner...

That's what is fixed in the cultural consciousness as an award winning film was made about it... The man on the Clapham omnibus probably knows Ike Turner as the guy who beat up Tina Turner.

No one's said anybody is immune from criticism- it's just thought tasteful to concentrate on the positive things about someone's life immediately after they've died.

A book called "series B- a practical course of psychic instruction" I think this comes down to a kind of sensitivity you either have or don't- you've either assimilated the consensual modes of social interaction so they are second nature, or you're just stood on the outside watching the...

    bassline house

This is true in that dubstep's rise was a much more "managed" thing, with an infrastructure etc, savvy use of the internet as a promotional tool and so forth. but who knows if that is to the long term benefit of the music? it's not necessarily looking that way at the moment. poor zomby, you...

    bassline house

arpeggiated basslines- definitely a sticky trademark- tho he didn't tend to use the bassline as the melody line in quite the same way- hasn't he done a couple of tunes on northern line records now anyway? there's a kind of warmth to a sticky/ garage production that i don't hear in...

i've heard em both play out seperately and together. haven't sought out their records per se... and yeah they did play some 4x4 stuff, wrongfooted most of the crowd but i thought it was a good move...:slanted:

    Dubstep

There was no implicit value judgment there- from me anyway- their sound just seems to belong to a world of fruit machines and diamond geezers. there's a kind of cheeky englishness to it. it's distinctive and works a crowd so good on em... tho' admittedly i wouldn't buy it myself.
