The Republican War on Transgender People, Drag Queens, and Queerness in General

Having to read this arguments over and over must be tedious as fuck my sympathies.

To be serious for a second, you don't get the best of me on here. I can't be bothered mostly to make long posts anymore and certainly in some of the political threads I'm reacting to annoyances years in duration.

Yeah, I get what you're saying but I think this isn't really a high traffic or heavily moderated space so that also effects things. Padraig has pointed out at length how friends of his are impacted, are directly suffering - polite disagreement doesn't really sit well with me with that in mind.

That comment about The Killers really rankled, huh?

i don't know if that's good though? I find the anti-trans views wilfully blind and abhorrent. I don't think it's some kind of triumph we're sharing a space, more like lax moderation.

That's well put. The bathroom issue strikes me as one such issue. I'm aware it has a history - I think dating back to women's only alternative music festivals in the 90s? - but people currently citing it like Benny above are responding to an entirely imaginary discourse. Its interesting to try...

Oh fuck off you absolute fucking idiot. My posts literally above yours are about foreign policy and what a nightmare Corbyn is and was on this. Any "tone policing" arose out of my conversation with Third - I was curious as to why he was annoyed cos unlike yourself he has basic reading...

It's also the fact that's its no longer about policy if it ever was and is entirely about demonisation now - Starmer as anti-Christ "literally worse than Hitler" as it says on the first page of this thread. Not that I want to defend him and his ideas as such - but that kind of ridiculous...

Fair point. I think I know the subject - recent Lab rows - fairly well so it's why its easy to get drawn in.

He'll act on it only to the degree it becomes salient to his electoral chances and there isn't a coherent lobby pushing it onto the agenda - AFAIK - so it's unlikely to become an active concern.

I feel with you, i argue differently as well. So it's weird switching registers midthread. I get drawn some of factional stuff that's posted here is so mindnumbingly fucking stupid it's just enraging. He's not Darth fucking Vadar, he's just a (fairly skilful IMO) politician.

    a) I'm closest to the Left and know them better b) there's a particular hypocrisy there - you can't imagine angry Tories running IT WAS A SCAM hash tag if they were called out for hating Jews can you? They'd just shrug and say "yeah fair enough" I'm interested in Labour's history - the rows...

Thing is, I find the politics of factionalism interesting and it's role in the history of the Labour Party. The same with left antisemitism. There's something about the perversity of it that engages my interest. It's like Reich's Mass Psychology but on the internet with gifs. I admit I do get...

Clearly you must because not everyone is rotating your ideas in their head 24-7 like a Marxist kebab. Your biggest failing is your inability to stick to a single simple point.

Dude what is the point of conversing with you when at the slightest challenge you tell people to fuck off? It's not my job to keep your convoluted meta-system in my head thank fuck. I answered a question the world's most boring politician a couple of pages back, commenting on left factionalism...

Not so fast matey. I and a lot of others were in favour of Syrian self-determination and read with great admiration accounts of how revolutionary Syrians set up systems of mutual aid, and disproved the racist bullshit that Arabs are incapable of social democracy. That's who I'm pissed on behalf of.

But that's the thing its a question of choice of belief for you and me. Some chat and cross words on a forum. Its a bit more fucking real for someone in an American state trying to pass this legislation.
