SPARKS - the greatest UK glam/fey rockers ever!!

DJ Hell has spun either ''Beat The Clock'',''The Number One Song In Heaven'' or possibly both.I regard then as the greatest pop group of all time and it's wonderful to hear people showing them so much love. A lot of people think that they are from the UK as English/European culture had such an...

    The demise of rock

I am not Simon Reynolds.I have only heard a couple of Edan tunes and they reminded me very much of De La's ''Three Feet High And Rising''{An LP I went nuts over back in the day}.I have to admit that the thought of a Grime/Sonics track gets me much more exited.I have my fingers crosed with...

    The demise of rock

The next generation of enthusiastic kids will keep it alive. When I was a teenager in the 80's I spent a lot of time listening to garage band music and psychedelia from the 60's and virtually ignored a lot of the innovative music of the time. That music connected with me as a teenager and I...

    80s Pirate Megamixes

Wow! Thanks for this, I'm gonna have a nostalgic riot with this site! I was too young to attend Westwoods night at the Peoples Club, but I do recall him coming into the shop I was working at in Praed Street Paddington at the time. He was a well spoken young man then, wearing childrens toy guns...

    5pm tonight....

I tuned into this out of interest. His ''Smash Hits Poll Winners Party'' report was pretty amusing.Group hugs with Pussycat Dolls and Girls Aloud? It's a tough job,but someones got to do it!!! Dubstep+Crunk+Electro+Broken Beat at once?

I've noticed this kind of thing at other nights. Some of the lack of interaction could be down to the DJ's though. Many play in a very distinct genre and focus on their own productions. This can lead to a 'gig' atmosphere where people have come along to hear a particular act.

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Every MC badgering the soundman to turn HIS mic up would'nt have helped the overall sound balance. It was a good night though,Wiley turned up and Alex Mills supplied live vocals for the 'In At The Deep End' tunes.

"Now that's what I call Grime" track listing suggestions

Yes,I do understand your use of the term. However, the first post in the thread had stated that 'Midnight Request Line' would be a candidate,''but no halfstep brilliance will be entertained'' and was therefore helping to create a subdivision.

"Now that's what I call Grime" track listing suggestions

That would be my take on it also.Is it possible not to get bogged down in endlessly sub dividing the genre?

    Bollywood Breaks

Many thanks for posting this up Ash Ra.I managed to bag a few Bollywood Soundtracks about ten years ago.A record shop in Southall High Street was selling off all its vinyl for £1.50 a go and I picked up stuff mainly on the strength of the cover art! I did get some amazing music though,including...

    Hate Is A Strong Word....

Here it is: SUCK YOUR MUM FUMIN' IN THE MIDDLE OF ANOTHER GRIME BEEF WE HAD THE FIRST OF OUR ''HATE IS A STRONG WORD'' grime nights at the Old Blue Last this month. The bar takings were down, the bouncers started crying, but at least there were three rival grime crews on stage having a huge...

    Hate Is A Strong Word....

The latest issue has a page long interview with Fumin, in which they ask him about the night. In the first paragraph of the article the journalist describes the night and to my mind[and I was present] puts a pretty sensationalist spin on events and patronises the performers involved. If you have...

    Do I like dubstep?

Its a shame that new Dubstep releases are so thin on the ground this year. The wait for Request Line seems eternal and what else is there to look forward to?DMZ seem to be keeping things afloat single handedly,or am I missing something?
