yh I would agree that much of it feels soft - but I guess thats part of the ongoing reaction against 'aggy' dubstep? anyone clock Slimzee's shows on Rinse? thats some of the most exciting music (still)

so I bought Dedication today I think I prefer it (right now) to Splazsh, that might change but after a couple of listens, i'm really feeling it. to use the ol' cliche "it sounds like some futuristic b-boy shit" makes me want to go and paint a wall:D

    what you currently enjoying ?

Ha! makes you wonder sometimes, I was def listening to Jungle in 94 but never made it to Roast, I've got to admit it would have prob been fairly intimidating for a skinny white boy from the south west, I think Metalheadz in '96 was the first London drum and bass night I made it to, but that...

if New York can die so can London

re cities: that's maybe the point i'm trying to make - Is the simplification & democratisation of the music making process lessening the need for big cities to have central roles in creating new music?

if New York can die so can London

I dont think either London or NY are really dead, but I do think the ease with which people can make music and promote themselves now has watered down so many genres Hip-hop is a great example - youtube gave us Souljah boy???? Please. Now he is in some ways a legitimate 'star' (less so now...

if New York can die so can London

thats what i'm saying - a true underground scene now is something like a book reading club, in the forest, spread by word of mouth

if New York can die so can London

point me to the word of mouth, underground raves and I'm there (I have been to a few crusty ones in the woods:confused:)

if New York can die so can London

I think part of the problem is there's no underground anymore, the net has virtually destroyed that, London is victim like anywhere else in that regard

    James Blake

I dont like these tracks from what I've heard they sound too experimental - like a beat work-out before its a full track

eh? does it matter? "if the cap fits" I like out of place samples - trends in samples are so obvious
