has there been a cult movemnt that has ben situated on the internet with no real physical presence? if not why not? granted it might b hard to control your followers but a good cult shouldnt need to be so heavy handed. i think it can be done. i think with your help i can gt on going. i will be the leader but all my dissensus helpers will have important positions such as treasuerer and costume desginer.

4chan is a bit cult-like, though not in the Heaven's Gate way which is what I'm sure you are after. I think this project is entirely possible. I wish you luck.

Actually Minecraft might be a good vehicle for a cult. Or any one of those free-to-play, low production, high fantasy massively multiplayer online games you see advertised in pop-ups everywhere.

Wait, I've already figured it out. Second Life.

Not really a cult, but this seems like a good example of a bunch of people with internet connections going mental (or are they?)

Watch the bookings for doctor's appointments in middle class areas soar. It was a pretty good article, all told. All that scratching is making me...

Let's Talk About Ceps
I saw a documentary about this a few years ago. Fucking weird. Sounds like the most likely explanation is some combination of itching due to mundane causes (eczema, psoriasis, dog fleas, allergies...could even be 'meth bugs' in the Midwest, I guess) leading to little sores or wounds, which then get fibres stuck in them from clothes and bedding. But there's a whole mass-hysteria aspect to it...I'm sure it's absolutely real to the people who suffer from it, it sounds horrible.
