What struck me is that he's getting all worked up now it's got over 200 million on it... but apparently when he chucked it the value of the coins on it was 8.5m so it's hardly like it was nothing.

Exactly. Obviously it's possible to be both working-class and far-right, but the backbone of movements like this is almost always solidly middle-class and they often have mega-wealthy backers (as luka mentions).
