There are strict protocols for declassifying documents, procedures that have to be followed for each individual document, official forms that have to be filled out, filed and recorded for each one doc before they are reclassified. The right are making it sound like Trump could just declassify a dozen boxes of classified documents with the wave of a hand, like the Pope sprinkling holy water blessings.

I don't get why people keep saying this kind of thing, has there ever been a time when Trump ever did anything even remotely like this?
Has anyone looked at Gateway Pundit at all? They will be discussing the same event as we might do on here but the assumptions they make, the things they say and the completely ridiculous twists of logic and lies that they take for granted mean that the debate looks very different to how it might if it involved sane people. I know that it's often said rather easily of people that one disagrees with, that they are living in a different reality, but when two people talk about the same event and one version of the debate involves completely different people and has a totally different cause and effect and is ultimately part of another whole narrative that seemingly relates to nothing that we've seen or which has been reported in the press or which can be inferred from what has - in fact you could barely tell it was the same event being discussed except by the name they use to refer to it - which will probably be something like "FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago Hoax" - then I think that that is really the only way to describe what is going on. The true Trump cultists live in a different reality which is a whole world with its history and lore and villains and good guys etc etc sort of like Middle Earth or something, and if you live in that world (or think you do I suppose would be more accurate) then it's not that much of a stretch to think that Trump waved his hands to magically declassify the documents and then used them to set a trap which Pelosi and Obama walked right into by sending their FBI minions with a search warrant. And then when enough of you accept that as the most likely correct version of events it becomes one of the assumptions that everyone makes and which you can use to start building even more mountains of madness.

With Q there was a guy who at least started the ball rolling and must have basically known that it was all bollocks and that he was using it to manipulate people. Here though, it's kind of interesting in that I'm not sure that that is what is happening, there is just a bunch of mad people egging each other on to create more and more of this nonsense. A self-perpetuating machine to create total bollocks (albeit primed by QAnon I guess), I feel that while ultimately the Q thing did totally come off the tracks, the new right-wing fantasy machine never had any and could end up anywhere.

The speed with which they come up with new and contradictory justifications is stunning. It seems that they've given up on the documents being declassified now and are saying they are covered by Executive Privilege, oh and just for good measure the FBI agents involved in the raid ore the exact ones being investigated by Durham (is that still going on? And does it involve the FBI at all?)

It's the "just found out" bit that really kills me, do we think that before that he totally thought Trump was guilty but he's just found this out (how?) and changed his mind. Surely he means, I've just made up a new reason for Trump to not to be guilty cos the old one was bollocks.
