when i used to work for builders and painters and decorators they always listened to heart or magic and it sapped all the life out of me. so enervating.

more on the rare groove, soul-jazz end of things, though i see this as more mellow (more delicate, refined, restrained) than smooth or smooove

reason smooth is an epithet though is that rock (and all that comes with it, 'edge' being prioritised over much else) is more or less the dominant belief system for music in western popular culture
