is ambient that popular? i don't think i've met anyone in real life who likes it. maybe some of those youtube background study playlists. i'm trying to find mates to go with to this thing Ambient Church and no-one is up for it. actually i met one greenpoint barista who likes grouper, we started talking because he was playing dean blunt in the shop. which was the first and only time i've ever heard anyone play dean blunt anywhere.
someone has probably said it already in the thread (I'm not reading 22 pages to check), but it's one of those genres where no way in hell would i pay 15 pounds for a CD, but i am going to check it out on youtube
also a genre where there's so much of it that its hard to navigate to the best bits
when i'm in charge, after the revolution, or at least after i lead the labour party to a far-left socialist victory, what i'm going to do is establish spaces in every medium-sized town in england that play a rotating array of recorded drone on some nice equipment, that cost two pounds to go in for as long as you like. a network of Dream Houses essentially.
its a sop to the labour right£2 - call yourself a socialist?
Free drone for the people! ( I'd insert an "anarchy" emoji here, but the "man" is putting us down )
edit: this will have to do: A = Anarchy AND A = Ambient

not to mention the selections, there are some really nice voices on here
Did I ever talk about the drone barge on here? Made me think about the perfect environment for this kind of thing - and Ive decided - its the opium den. Everyone in a nice warm alcove, pipe in hand, tea and refreshments being served.
Also considering a drone barge. Just wander the waterways of continental Europe blasting drone out of huge speakers as you crawl across the countryside. Towns and villages could pay you to go away.
I think what CC Hennix talks about in her writing (or maybe one of the interviews, I don't exactly remember) is the benefits a place with 24/7 drone playing would have for the average citizen. gives you something solid and unchanging in your reality, some sort of nice anchoring experience you can always come back to if you feel like it.when i'm in charge, after the revolution, or at least after i lead the labour party to a far-left socialist victory, what i'm going to do is establish spaces in every medium-sized town in england that play a rotating array of recorded drone on some nice equipment, that cost two pounds to go in for as long as you like. a network of Dream Houses essentially.
It was good actually. These things can go either way for me. It was nice to sit there on a pew with my eyes closed and listen to these loops slowly do their thing. And fennesz when he came on spent half the set making really loud distorted guitar noise. Also loads of people left when he started doing that, so I got to lie down on the pew and stare at the roof of this massive church. Was it good or boring?
what are the are appropriate drugs for listening to ambient/drone?Made me think about the perfect environment for this kind of thing - and Ive decided - its the opium den. Everyone in a nice warm alcove, pipe in hand, tea and refreshments being served.

yeah that one. KMRU was good. he was already on when i got there, and when i was parking my bike outside, the whole church was kind of humming, which was an interesting thing to see. obviously his stuff is very repetitive, slowly changing loops, but i got into it. sounded very similar to the record i think but it was nice to hear that loud on a good system. i think it would have been annoying to listen to standing up.Was that the show with KMRU? How was he?

never tried opioids + ambient but I reckon its nice, the soft warm blanket feeling + ambient I would imagine gets you nodding off in the most pleasant way possible. I've yet to do enough ketamine to know if it's any good with this kind of music. LSD + ambient is of course is a wondrous experience, especially with enough flower to calm the energetic side of acid. 2cb and ecstasy a bit too energetic. same goes for the stimulants. I've got a bunch of monero set aside for some darknet shopping and this thread has inspired me.
What are the appropriate ambients for taking drugs? Good question
