there was a time you could walk into a sandwich bar and some hideous old crone with a hairy wart would fill your bap with any of the toppings she had laid out in stainless steel containers. coleslaw, cheese, egg mayonnaise, and it would take her about 20 minutes to assemble it and an eyelash would fall into the coleslaw
