I thinks this fits 3 of your 4 criteria Thirld. Dave Angel - Dimensions of Drums. With hard replaced with Detroit strings.
i saw simon crab / bourb quark recently and it was a really good show. i remember thinking it was shocking that it was described as 'noise' - it all felt very close to good minimal techno
already heard 23 skidoo.
yellow magic orchestra on technodelic and bgm + their 80s solo records are the best at this imymoo (in my ymo opinion)I am really more and more getting into this kind of stuff. Industrial, but not the all-out testosterone type; tribal, while avoiding exoticity; trance, but without it getting cheese. Hard to find, but very often worth it.
Third doesn't like Coil? Wouldn't have guessed
THEYRE CALLED BORBETOMAGUS AND THEYRE FROM NEW YORK CITY!!!!! THEY ARE NOT BRISH!!!! THE NOISE OF THEM MOSTLY COMING FROM SAXOPHONE!!!!! NOT GUITAR!!!! IAM VERY UPSET ABOUT YOU RIGHT NOW TURDPORN !!!!!!I understood what they were trying to do but it all came across as anything but ritualistic in the sense of ceremonial magic here... they would have done better to concentrate on finding the microtones between the notes and summoning the rats from soho. it was all a bit too refined. would rather settle for free jazz (not the pharoah type, the ayler/shepp type...)
Tell you what though there is some fantastic experimental guitar noise from a british group (I think) called borbegomitus. will upload tomorrow if not on youtube.
