i've just started listening to this. some vinyl crackle at the very beginning... has it been recorded from vinyl?

good krautrocky tune at the beginning. lots of wailing and FX. i feel like I've heard it before but can't be sure. early 80s?

and then into some spoken word thing with a cryptic vocal in the mould of laurie anderson or david byrne's "in the future" but better, cos the backbeat's very banging. "day of the gamelan, day of niagara..."

now into a nice instrumental, mildly euphoric but with a bit of fuzz over it as well. and a very hard to hear vocal coming in now. it sounds almost big beaty to me, like something off a richard fearless social mix. but can't be. european again. this whole mix so far is reminding me of ones that Rich has posted. maybe more dancey tho. it's very up my street.

I guess the ‘very hard to hear vocal’ is j t cotton…spot of mid 00s jackbeat sleaze there

the idea of the mix was to play some favourite synthy industrial dance / new beat / ’wave thru newer raw house, acid…and keeping it v v gritty.. and yes, slow and moody but crisp beats all the way.

not hugely into Gast, but James T. Cotton, respects. Chicago madman doing his thing keeping the acid will never die psychodelic continuum alive. Tracklist looks nice as a whole.

yes, that's a tracklist I can relate to

that whole nation recs, jtc, melvin oliphant aka traxx, d’marc cantu, dirt criminals etc etc thing got me out of the mnml doldrums in the mid-00s and I was v v happy and v grateful. tadd mullinix aka jtc is actually anne arbor-based, but yeah, chi-centric scene. bit overkill later on with loads of retro acid doing the rounds, but the idea of making explicit connections b/w chi acid/jack tracks and euro indus/ebm was sound. still have all the early nation recs 12”s.

really really rate the last couple of lord tusk has done recently
his sets have been amazing when ive seen them, loads of terrrifying sparse iron curtain synth pop alongside his kind of shaka/tnt roots dub, all these quite disparate seeming things that sit on the same grid. both those poles have a a kind of crash bandicoot death marching style bonkersness to them as well which is incredibly moving. theyre things that if you listen at home can sound quite on the edge of acceptability in ways but whenever you get a chance to hear it as designed its unstoppable really.
