That’s the 2nd time in as many days I’ve seen clips of Sienfeld’s Netflix series. I have avoided it because A. I’m not much of a JS fan. B. I’m not that interested in cars (as he famously is).
I may have to start watching now. It looks like, same as his show, he’s just there and the characters and/or guests are the show, no?

It's as good as the guests he has on but you're going to have to deal with Jerr breaking down what makes it all tick which gets grating to put it lightly. Pick a few eps with people you like and see how you get on with it

Yeah I’d agree with this. If you like Jerry’s schtick, then it’s a very enjoyable series, but if you don’t, then fortunately the episodes are short and focus largely on the guests.

I got to know a lot of stand-ups over the years: Attell, S.Silverman, Quinn, some who have passed like R. Jenni.

Dave Attell is the only one who is. As/more funny off stage as on.
N. Macdonald, though I never met him was reportedly the same.

Aww man, the Bitter Buddha was my shit for so long. Been a while. Need to check back in with him. Used to religiously tune into his peptalks podcast after discovering him through the WTF podcast which I used to also listen to religiously and was like going to comedy university with all the stories and lore. That world is as if not more entertaining than the 70s-90s rock world. So many insane people driving for miles to play in the middle of bumfuck Idaho, or at legendary spots like the Store, hanging with other road dogs, small town local legends, lot of questionable people like Sam Kinison, and fuck ups with hearts of gold like Robin Williams, just straight up human fireballs and all out of their minds and having a fkn blast. Kinda hilarious when you compare it to who's hot now.. the podcasters n shit.. not quite the same world anymore.

Attell is one who seems to get respect across the board. Whenever I catch him on a podcast or whatever it's just like damn, dude is razor sharp funny. Jenni is one of the ones you don't hear about too much now but those who do talk about him hold him up high. It's actually crazy the amount of comedy knowledge I've accumulated through those podcasts vs listened to actual standup, and forget about shows. Maybe a handful ever.

MacDonald is like his own planet. Amazing dude. True artist. Proper self sabotager like the best of em.

How'd you get in that world? And wtf how many worlds have you been in?

Doug Stanhope is perhaps my favorite comic around (don't know him). But his takes are hilarious. Off stage Hijinx the stuff legends

Idk how to answer that definitively. I grew up alright until my early teens (13 to be exact), By that time my mother was in very bad health. Father working himself to death. Older siblings pretty much moved on/had lives/families of their own. I was sort of left virtually unsupervised & half feral.
I ran the streets. Found a lot of trouble. Took a lot of beatings from the old fella who was pretty much out of ideas about how deal with me.
I put them (parents) through hell and am still trying to make amends many years after both have exited this mortal coil.
Going into the Army at 17 was far more an ultimatum than patriotic fervor, I'll say that much. I (as I think I've overshared already) made my living on the margins which put me in the right, or wrong places pretty much from the span of 1982 through 2000-01...its tiresome & a bore to put on front street but dm me if you're really interested. it has been therapeutic to post/interact on here but I feel like, idk, someone I myself would'nt even want to read/hear about.
Insufferable I think is the word.
