what do you do for a living then?
Import export
LOL, that was my next question!
I was thinking this too, but yyaldrin, being Dutch, just went ahead and asked it.
Ok fellas. Pay attention cos I'm only gonna say this once.
Have TEFL, will travel.
Great stuff, reminds me of my experiences of Mexico City almost 20 years back. My girlfriend went to live in Mexico and we met up in MC and everyone had all these tips about how to not get killed. Like only get in a taxi you ordered - but when I landed I just got a random one and, although he drove like an absolute fucking nutter (he actually drove over a central reservation to overtake a queue of cars and run a red light), it was otherwise fine. Great trip, we hitchhiked round Oahaka (sp?) although didn't get too far - I think that area is a lot more dangerous now. In the interest of balance I should say that pretty much everyone else who went to visit her did get mugged in Mexico City though.Have left São Pau for now, but here's a few reflections:
Someone on reddit posted about how they taught english in Taiwan, where life is so cheap they were saving thousands of pounds/dollars a month. They almost literally couldn't spend what they made.
I worry that moving abroad I'd sever my few remaining social connections and live in an isolation chamber, though.
