evol are such pretentious cunts.

and I say this as a huge fan of academic electronic music.

But everything Stockhausen said about afx applies to them like a t.
I think they are very armchair philosophy, and I can definitely see their appeal to academic crowd, from speaking with some of my teachers, for me their appeal comes from somewhere else completely. plus sergio luque hates them with his entire heart and that's a green flag, I almost had a reckoning with the uk livecoding scene prompted by a similar reaction from him (he hates alex mclean and the sheffield scene with passion)

In the case of evol it's rearguard and postmodern.

I could see a point of view that they are rather trying to make some semi-ironic commentary on a musical culture, rather than functioning from within one (which would make such a thing as a commentary rather unnecessary).
Curious to hear more, but at the same time I honestly think Stockhausen is not without a reason known for edgelord takes, and that is even within the academic electronic music circles you're talking of

oh for sure, I have no real love for Stockhausen! I just find that there is nothing really going on.

With the grm lads there is this concerted attempt to take discrete invents and synthesise them into a whole. With evol you don't seem to get
that kind of expansive vision.
