just saying, to anyone thinking of jumping in...big things happened for my blog after i posted its url here. it was viewed by noted music writer simon reynolds, noted “21st century mind god” luke davis, and also by my mom. anyways, now that i got around to writing the last installment, i thought i'd include a proper link to the series of posts mentioned above.
the subject is journeys of personal creative development. (not my own so far, but what i imagine artists i like go through.) and in particular, Late Work. a bit cheesy but nevertheless an important topic.
intro
part 1
part 2
part 3
part 4
often when i've done blog posts the goal hasn't so much been to generate new ideas as to force myself to flesh out and explain vague ideas and and assumptions i have in the back of my mind about things. thus shining a new light on them, positive or negative. so that was the idea here.
would appreciate if anyone reads all this. but only if it quickly starts making sense and maybe seems to have some relevance to your own thoughts or feelings. bemused courtesy reads aren’t necessary.
(also, yes, i do bring up autechre in part 4. my deepest fucking apologies. i first thought of that section long before their being constantly mentioned around here became a meme.)
