three-round battle, first graded on looks, second interestingness , third on real-world power—who wins—Brooklyn culture mafia or the twitterati right (BAP, Kantbot, Moldbug, Outsideness, etc)

Red Scare has to sit on the sidelines for conflict-of-interest

I'll never get over how bizarre it is that Anna K and Kantbot/Logo Daedalus hang out on Twitter

it's the /lit/ crossover we didn't know we were waiting for

Since you made that thread, I stumbled across Lasch and now he keeps popping up. Apparently RedScare were reading one of his books and now people keep mentioning him on /r/stupidpol.

Lasch is great. I haven't read Culture of Narcissism, which is the (for obvious title-related reasons) everyone and their mamas are on about. But True and Only Heaven: Progress and Its Critics is a masterpiece, stylistically and intellectually. It made me really wanna write like him in college, which got me in all sorts of problems with my thesis advisor, ended up not being allowed to write a thesis.

I haven't even gotten to the letter yet and it's already terrible,
I apologize for lack of content. The technical miracle is almost complete—already, my senses are enormously expanded, and I can feel the Old Ones beginning to stir. More work remains necessary, however, to confirm the results.

Moldbug makes me feel dirty and not in a good way. He's just kind of grubby. Everything about him. I get a similar feeling from Slate Star Codex and whatnot. There's just something off. I found something the other night about SSC donating to some group that wanted to sterilise drug addicts...

It's because you're worried you'll be ideologically contaminated, it's the protective voice of your inhabiting ideology

Also I'm no big SSC stan but that's probably not the whole story

At one point I was scared to read anything to do with Christianity in case I believed it and accidentally converted myself.
