I'm 26 now. People around me are starting to settle down.
The standardized smiles and satisfied normality are closing in and I find it all a bit off-putting. The model social expression of the common man living the common life. The disinterested contentment of a self-assured place in the world.
The domnant order of adulthood seems to be finding your own little space, furnished with reliable everyday routines, an appeasing, accordant idea of meaning and consistently cushioning its walls with supporting worldviews. Smile, go about your day.
This probably all sounds like a big cliche, but it's a new sensation for me. I find my self drawn towards the curious, the singular, the extraordinary that comes from dissatisfaction. Happy people seem more boring than ever.
