the technocrat wet dream, society as a kind of machine where you can tweak the dials in order to produce the output you wantJust imagine what it'll be like when we are able to administer micro shocks to some portion of the nervous system to condition us not to spend past x minutes daily on this or that app. That is how the attention of the consumer-subject could be partitioned out and maximized, finessed, rather than just letting their attention wander. We would be tightening the technical reins we steer ourselves with.
You could micro-shock yourself into becoming a more organized and regimented personality, a more optimal neoliberal subject. A deeper subordination of nature, of base instinct. A, perhaps, perennial trauma. But its either that or you lose the race.
But perhaps it will come at some increasingly visceral cost. Similar to how so many of us are in work/pseudo-work mode at all hours of the day, largely because the benchmark was upped by those of us who pushed it, and those of us who reacted positively to such pushing.the technocrat wet dream, society as a kind of machine where you can tweak the dials in order to produce the output you want
good point i just heard made saying the post cash situation will be tokens you can only spend in the company store.
which is a step further than what i had seen, ie, you cant buy drugs or any other contraband good or service
"What he did want now, and very badly, was food. He touched his credit chip through the denim of his jeans. He'd go across the street and get a sandwich ... Then he remembered why he was here, and suddenly it didn't seem very smart to use his chip. If he'd been sussed, after his attempted run, they'd have his chip number by now; using it would spotlight him for anyone tracking him in cyberspace, pick him out in the Barrytown grid like a highway flare in a dark football stadium. He had his cash money, but you couldn't pay for food with that. It wasn't actually illegal to have the stuff, it was just that nobody ever did anything legitimate with it."good point i just heard made saying the post cash situation will be tokens you can only spend in the company store.

In general, or in the way you think the system is optimizing you?
I've noticed card machines in petrol stations rather impertinently asking ADD 25P FOR CHARITY? [Y/N]. It doesn't tell you what charity. Fuck that! It could for hard-up stockbrokers who don't know where their next lapdance is coming from, for all I know.a bit like that thing that's started popping up where they ask you if you'd like to round up to the nearest pound as a charitable donation. some let you choose the charity, some don't
