Now that doesn’t necessarily mean despotic, if there is a way of establishing an elected board of governors, unlike the current arrangement for the US Federal Reserve, none of whom are elected, to my knowledge.

The bottom-up oversight would seem too circuitous for me to have faith in the democratic prospects of a CBDC in the US, under the current arrangements, but there could well be mechanisms in place that I am totally unaware of.

This means they, the board of governors presumably, would control all the nodes in the network upon which the blockchain is maintained, which would allow them to administer updates to the algorithms.
But there are also conceivable means by which this control can be socialized to some degree to offset the centralization, perhaps by setting up some number of nodes in the network that are not under the control of the board, but rather

The voting power of the tokens can be nonlinear in terms of the amount held in a single wallet. The voting power per token may be programmed to drop off at a certain rate as the balance increases, thus weighting the lower balances more in terms of voting power per token.

What I’m saying is CBDC, assuming blockchain is involved, could be a monument to totalitarianism, or a monument to democracy, depending on how these things are legislated and programmed and what degree of understanding the legislators have.
i think if i was 25 i would've definitely latched onto crypto and dark web and all that, in the same way that i lateched onto bitorrent and karagarga and limewire and all that when i was 25. but now i'm 40 i just cannot be arsed, it's a kids game. or adults my age who can be arsed.

I'm way older than you but I'm keeping up. But I suppose I was a little younger when I started. It's getting more interesting as time goes on too, not less. I've crammed on NFTs these past 2 months and they're fascinating, so much innovation it's impossible to know it all

Yeah I’ll stick by that metaphor of the blockchain industry experiencing a Cambrian explosion. Very true. The scene is an attractor for smart and independent minds.
i'm getting interested in these GANs but I've not interest in crypto and NFTs. I was gonna go on the dark web but i stopped at the point where i had to start installing TOR etc.
