Chasing the Perfect Loop

I spent money collecting all the girls names that Brinkmann recorded

although he couldn't think of a name beginning with Q which means he is not aware of the UK tradition of a lady of a certain age being known as QUEENIE

there was once a hilarious incident where the first cis het guy in Hulme manchester who had a PRINCE ALBERT was jumped on by QUEENIE, the crazy lady who may have one or more mental health issues and she was only dressed in an unwashed dressing gown while she tried to force her vagina on to the face of the Boy George / Pete Burns lookalike singer of "MY AMERICAN WIFE" RIP. in public, just outside the shopping arcade

Brinkmann - Anna 1

this 12 inch features mathematical precision scalpel cuts into the vinyl which dictate the rhythm

a friend once asked "could you tell a record from looking at it" and I immediately replied any of the girl's name 12 inches, they are works of art

we once went out on a works outing and pre-loaded at my flat so I set up the dub siren and space echo and when I put this tune on the place went as wild as possible with ten pissed and loved up people is as possible

night was also memorable because we went to see DJ ROLANDO from Underground Resistance and some couple got a bit intimate on the dance floor and he stuck on FRENCH KISS and everyone laughed

^ just to be clear this has nothing to do with me, I was just buying tunes like this to listen to while rushing on snide pills in 2000 AD

I was also going to techstep nights lol

edit: I remember the night we went to see BAD COMPANY UK and they didn't turn up and I was ordering a rum and coke at the bar and they had a mirror behind the bar and I saw my face and I was all like "I am too old to be here' and that was 24 years ago, lol, but I was rushing like shit from a Mitzi so what did I care

Got that down to 95% and all it needs is an a capella to tame the heaviest elements to make it sound reet DiY/local. Lovely having a pitch slide control that goes fully over all speeds, not just increments of 25%, finally on a mainstream media source

Looped / Repetition, don’t wanna derail but:

Heavy trance states can be reached without narcotics even if hashish may have been on the menu below, more the way the repetition loop is surrounded by chanting and added to by women in a higher register in the background bringing a quasi-fevered mix - you remain anchored but it becomes vertiginous too (overused word recently but ..) almost giddy from its collectivised drum patterning and tape phasing swirl

edit first missed piece time stamped, second is polyrhythmic too and the crux of the above outline

it’ll drop straight into a repeating piper soloing with a chord background and a mesmeric piece with a fire going and the odd dog crowing in the night or participant’s cough/quiet words exchanged

it’s the quietest night shift in months, something is preparing itself so top thread to loop the team into life

Les Maitres Tambours du Burundi - Suite De Danses Et D'Appels Rituelles

the MASTER DRUMMERS were one of the best live shows I ever witnessed - not this recording, but I once listened to this recording while stoned with my DREAM MACHINE revolving at 78 rpm and I travelled through time

I am so EXCITED - I will finally, if I make it to live that long, witness the NARITA DRUM festival next year, 800 drummers at 9: 30 in the morning on the grounds of an ancient temple, I am so EXCITED!

when I saw the MASTER DRUMMERS OF BURUNDI at the lesser free trade hall in Manchester ( the sex pistols might have played there ) there were some weird catcalls and it was all due to the disciples of some drum mistress, if it was a couple of years later I may have called them out and punched them in the face because it was then that I became the disciple of MASTER 'TAFFA and I learnt JU JU rhythms, but I was a poor student, always a half beat behind much to his chagrin, I had to look at the hands of the other drummers to figure out where we were

a few years later I learnt about attacking the gyms of rival kung fu masters, but that's another story

I almost had a record contract with a BOUTIQUE label who were going to release my CRYSTALLINE chopped and screwed tunes which sampled fuji garbage and the bee gees Saturday night fever via dub techno but it all went wrong due to an unfortunate incident involving anal beads

EON - SPICE

RIP J SAUL KANE

I was literally just thinking of that track minutes before because well.. long, uninteresting story.
Interesting that it was still going off like a fresh tune in 92 because they were already late playing it in clubs in 91.
But, what can I say, the scene here still hadn't really developed.

Depth Charge - Shaolin Buddha Finger

YOU BASTARD DO YOU WANT TO DIE YOU KILLED MY FATHER IN THE WOODS, etc

oh, shit - I think that totally passed me by.
I think this is one of the first ones I heard by him (although it's also Eon), but I didn't even realize it was him at that time.

unavailable in the uk

but I have m4d sk1llz

THE SPIDER

there was actually a thread about this tune:

which was started by @mvuent

and I pitched in with the DETROIT NEW MUSIC show clip because I'm shallow-lin

I posted the Eon version though.

2 weeks ago is too much for my brain to handle, respect for managing a decade plus man

I'm currently thinking about how mad, just crazy insane it was to have a record store (actually mini-chain of them in the Carolinas) that actually carried all of this stuff, and just the most wild selection you could think (like everything ptv related, for example) in Greenville f*cking SC, and enough of a subcultural presence to support it and some other weird shops in what is basically, in some ways, one of the worst areas of the bible belt.
It all seems to have been wiped away now though.
