It's definitely died out as a sound in modern music, right? Other than hideous crooners and damp indie music. But the same is probably true of most acoustic instruments.

it was big in uk drill. it's become a signifier of apathy and mourning recently. all the attack taken out of it. very viscous. its seeps across instrumentals.
