I started doing this a few days ago: ditched Reddit, ditched the news, started speaking to people less and less, stopped reading reviews or any sort of commentary on anything and only paid attention to whatever I was actually doing and what was happening in my immediate environment. It's much nicer tbh. I now wonder what I ever saw in looking up what people are saying about something.
I wouldn’t over isolate for mental health reasons, but fully empathise.
An uncluttered life is a solid, realistic, noble and achievable goal. Who needs ‘news’ that’s more like McDonalds, opinion, influencers, small talk etc? Endless distractions. This creates space to let more and more flashes of intuition in, as was described above. That’s the voice of a personal god worth worshipping for its varied input alone. Ideas, creativity and flow states emerge, just hope that doesn’t sound too meditative for meditation’s sake alone. It’s the frequencies of bandwidth that your mind doesn’t need that are the most prevalent and insidious in today’s world, from work to personal time.
