well obviously the city but you need one to moderate the other. it's like plugged in or unplugged.

you can't understand what the city has done to you until you spend time in the coutryside. you can't understand what the internet and other media have done to you until you unplug.

The countryside is boring the city is overwhelming.

If I was a rich man I'd have a house / flat in both.

This year the city has been as boring as the country, without the open spaces to frolic in. Worst of both worlds at that point.

Just walking around Marylebone today wondering who are these people who can afford to live in Marylebone? With their 4x4 Bentleys and Porsches.

Course I was eating an entire box of sushi at the time so I was aware of the irony of my grousing.

The city is alien to me. I barely know anyone in London.

Growing up in the sticks we always wanted to leave, but you'd also go to the pub on a Friday and you'd know about 30 people there. Which was better I'm pretty sure.

No although I didn't really enjoy the sushi, as nice as it was. Felt sick after.

Living in a city, at my age, isn't really that great. The best things about it: museums/galleries, cinemas, endless coffee shops and restaurants, bookshops...

To be young in London must be great. I had my chance and blew it.

if I hadn’t met my other half I’d already be somewhere along the west coast of Ireland, miles from anyone.

i find cities uniquely stressful places, they lost their appeal decades ago. Yes there’s all that culture and community services can thrive with adequate funding, but their civic purpose seems either a) residential or b) commercial. One hope for a post lockdown realignment of civic common sense would be to open cities up to their non commercial potential, but have no personal idea how that might be overcome and/or achieved.
