My entire life is being bullied for liking indie music. In 30 years Gen Prime's oughts nostalgia will validate me, there were good songs and good bands in the mix

in general, does nostalgia always do that, though? does critical distance always result in new-found fondness, or do we just view the the past in rose-colored glasses?

by definition, nostalgia is related to affection, happy times past. just not sure that perspective is impartial enough to be considered for validation.

More precisely, I think that time makes the "status halo" of prestige slowly disappear, and avenues for appreciation that were not previously viable become viable. Preference falsification regimes lift because no one has a real stake anymore, like how you'll get censored for your beliefs about gender but not your beliefs about whether Mary is Theotokos or Christotokos.
