At the moment in the UK you've got a lot of different MC based scenes what Fredo does has nothing to do with that Abra does. What Aitch does has nothing to do with what Blah and High Focus do or whatever grime is these days.

That's why we get endless lyrics about queuing for a kebab at 2am and fights for mini cabs, PlayStation, Rizla, 'wanking into a pizza box' to quote woops. From Mike Skinner to Arctic Monkeys. Insightful stuff - would be an interesting topic for an article (esp. in relation to "uk hip hop").

Lee Scott's lyrics speak for themselves imo. If it's "kitchen sink" then it's real kitchen sink rather than the imagined kitchen sink of the likes of Blur - he's from Runcorn.

It's not "Soundcloud rap" - he was a known battler and does loadsa shows.

If he he's not the best then the other contenders I reckon are Wretch, Dizzee, P Money, JME, Wiley or Scorzayzee.

I'm not a huge fans of the beats Lee raps on as a rule (boom bap bores me often ), but there are exceptions

PA Salieu is the nicest in the UK at the moment. Tape has dropped just in time for Xmas and it's wicked. He's not the best lyricist but rap has kinda gone beyond that at this point.

Lee refers to his depression in the lyrics of the Group EP . Might be poetic licence but there's a fair amount of gallows humour in his lyrics

Depression is endemic amongst this demographic and weed both exacerbates it and provides an escape from it.

Not a world away from the blah/high focus axis you mean? They seem fairly far apart to me in all sorts of ways.
