The last effort my Dad made, and I think this was inspired by Mojo magazine actually, was buying copies of OK Computer and Dummy to check out in 1997 or something. His verdict was actually irrefutable: “Morose. No energy. Moaning all the time. Do you want to have them?” “No, it’s OK, Dad.”

Dads have been saved by archiving though. Mine doesn’t have to keep up now, he can just buy the Bitches Brew sessions boxset, or say Alexa play Archie Shepp and he has access to more of the stuff he grew up loving and actually understands.
