The last twenty minutes of this are very satisfying in terms of pulling together all the threads, showing the existential angst of the sacrifice huge Jackman felt impelled to make and for that speech he makes about the world being solid and horrible and magic giving you a chance to mystify.
I can't remember now if the first time I saw it it was obvious that Christina bale was the assistant in the beard/hat because it seems so obvious to me now I find it hard to believe it wasn't. But maybe it was and that struck me as being a big twist.
Overall I think it's a clever story quite shoddily executed from the pov of dialogue/performance. The finale is where Nolan's strengths really come across.
