Snark, strut, sneer—composure degrading into apocalyptica. Don't know the history of garage so can't situate it, but there's a ton of post-Ptooff music that sounds like this, The Orwells more or less lift their entire guitar+vocal style from this template; nice to hear origins. It feels haunted in a similar way to The Doors, and doing an adjacent calm-to-collapsing choreography—almost trying to be mystic and repellant at the same time. Very "cool" music—the kind of dude who listens to this wears leather jackets, owns two shirts and one pair of pants, drinks hair of dog.

btw @luka that thing of sarcastically embracing homegrown 2nd rate versions of other music that we acknowledge is kinda naff that's something i feel americans struggle to contend all even now with drill, initially lads getting apoplectic about how we were doing drill "wrong" but now are more than content to rap over the same kind of beats with or without really obvious samples cause they deem that the one aspect of the music that was worth a damn.

reminds me of people over here who got into grime through Boxed but never wanted to listen to any of the vocal tunes

it's also this things i've encountered where as much as Anglophiles claim to adore all things britian they can tell you all about post-rock bands from Leeds that put out 4 albums nobody cared about but look like deers in the headlights when you try to get them to talk about black music cause they are completly unfamiliar and alien to the goings on here.
