so far i'd describe the lyrics as competent. no outstanding coouplets yet. but here goes with craner's fave

this is nice production, thatt swooping bassline sounds ahead of 1995 time.

are they good story tellers?
do they have spectacular flamboyant wordplay?
do they have understated but effective rhyming abilities?

not so far to all of the above

went in first with that swayze line that i don't get. then a very long and fierce intermission which is the real intro to the album i guess. the beats sound a lot like the rza sound and they just mentioned shaolin.
oh yes the intermission where P's taking shots at Keith Murray and Redman

i mean compared to the stuff going on in that vodka / chic raw stuff i was listening to earlier the lyrics are much denser and more interesting / enjoyable EDIT in the vodka chic raw

also i would say yes to your questions but Mobb Deep are the wrong group to come to if you're expecting the rap equivalent of a circus show it's all in the fine corners and the cramped details, Prodigy at this stretch in his career has a really effective way with language but not in Eminem hyper multisylable sense its in his word choices,sense of humour how he could come off so ice cold and detached yet gripping at the same time

The words are good but they're inseparable from how they are said
I love the way he says the first two lines of Shook Ones, Part I;

The most violent of the violentest crimes we give life to
If these Queensbridge kids don't like you

Yeah but there's a reason vodka isn't famous. And the infamous works because of the way those two are scarcely there, they do less than any rapper had ever done before or since
