I wouldn't call it a feud so much as a very fundamental difference of outlook. The one time we met irl we got along perfectly fine and I'm pretty sure that would be the case if it happened again.
I also remember that 2016 stuff you're talking about and while our politics are just different I'm sure i was unduly personally harsh.
Of every stupid argument I've ever gotten into here the only one I ever held with me longer than a day or two was comelately like, 10 years ago or whatever, and even that, like, who cares?
Idk the older I get the less it matters. Every now + then I'll pop in here and see some crazy and/or terrible shit that someone (usually, tho tbf not always, gus) wrote and think "do I really want to spend the time + energy getting into this" and the answer is always no. I do guess early pandemic when we were all inside semi-losing our minds was kind of a throwback to the late 00s/early 10s flame war golden era.

i dont care if people are rude to me or whatever. i do get a bit indignant when people (i.e. Tea) misrepresent my positions but only becasue i think they should be hanging on my every word and taking notes. i think to myself, have you not even been listening why do i bother, pearls before swine etc

They regret that now though don't they! musty bread for breakfast, apple Streusel for dinner, musty bread for dinner, rinse, repeat. At least the Germans have a pretence of high culture. Austrians can't even claim that, that's why gus' mum wasn't able to raise him with an aristocratic temperament. The poor geezer nearly choaked to death from the bloody Apple Streusel overload.
This is what I was trying to tell @luka re: Dido. The problem is the modest ambition and the drabness, that is the appeal for a people who think they are too superior to nationalism, tribalism etc. I'm an anti-nationalist, definitely, 100%, but I am aware its a pathology I have to work with, because we are socialised into nationalistic cultures. The Brit on the other hand is able to call nationalism pathetic, and the appeal of it completely mystifies her, hence thinking its an us vs them ideology, when its really more fundamental than that, it is the constitution of a community, imagined or otherwise, even the opportunist Joseph Stalin was able to see that! This is where I part sharp ways with Mark. His thought was never able to surrender to the sober realisation that communities are all absorbed into global capital, and the way out first begins with disavowing any pretence to communities.
