i do like Graceland very much. I don't know really fuck all about West African music, or South African music for that matter. The guitars sound amazing on that album though obviously.

The run of albums from Bookends to Graceland is pretty amazing. Not for everyone on here but for the singer/songwriter writer genre, I reckon there him and Joni at the top. My personal favourite is Still Crazy - my dad bought it on tape when he got his first tape recorder, Bridge got played a lot in our house too but those first two solo albums have some great songs on there. Also he’d been collaborating with all kinds long before Graceland - those South American pipes on Bridge, recording with all the guys at Muscle Shoals, Stefan Grappeli on Paul Simon.

Craner this should be your favourite album. This is why you don't like it. typically perverse.

It's funny (or tragic) how even though I don't really care about song lyrics it still puts me off listening to songs when I can't understand what they're singing about.

I suspect that this is (on an unconscious level) a filtering tactic on my part to save me the "hassle" of having to listen to a massive amount of music that I've never listened to, what with already being snowed under by English speaking stuff.

I was going to say I love Graceland but in truth I only know 4 songs off it off the top of my head. So I'll have to listen to it now, I suppose.

Paul Simon's got a sort of nebbishy voice, like that cartoon Droopy the Dog

But there's something quite moving about this on the song 'Graceland' – his sad, droopy dog, wistful voice playing off against the toe-tapping, joyful South African sounds.

I've been thinking for a while a good nickname might help @WebEschatology to lighten up a bit. Worked for Stan and Gus. My suggestions are "Webster" or "scatty" might be other cool ones I haven't thought of.

Which one do you like best @WebEschatology?
i don't particularly like scatty and Webster just makes me think of Emmanuel Lewis, i'm alright with Webby/webbie cause it makes me think of the rapper but otherwise my name is my name

i'm more sour than usual cause i'm sick with a firey tempreture and this month and last month were fucking diabolical for me
