Yeah... how did the rumour get started? Malicious or accidental?yeah right. these are the examples that come to mind for me when you broaden this discussion out to places like that. can think of specific examples eg in kabul where someone was beaten to death on the street in the town center because of a rumour that she had desecrated a koran, totally untrue but the guys on the street kicked her to death. her name was farkhunda. i was in a town called briala slatina or something like that in northern bulgaria and someone beat a roma guy to death in the village square. no idea what the story was there. my town in bangladesh had a mob justice thing going on where they surrounded the police station and killed six policement i think. it totally depends on where you're talking about but in general a legal system seems preferable to me.
