Inevitably
Sometimes you just know. Ian has a clear niche—the headphone class of musical experience, heretofore not much spoken of—and he understands/is interested in the psychology of modern listening. He isn't stuck up in old paradigms of music journalism, he isn't cargoculting. His feet are firmly planted in the present moment. And his mind is set on what he wants to do—he wants to write about music. And that's what he'll do. I'd wish him success but he doesn't need my well-wishes.

Great writers express those parts of the present or the eternal which have not yet been expressed, and yet desperately require expressing... Ian is on this path

He could do to speed up his writing process a little, perhaps put a bit more time in it, being prolific is important, but everything else is already aligned for him. Now someone's gotta give him a gig at a music website, where he's forced to write regularly, start getting in shape, conditioning, acquiring muscle. Even if he ends up blogging in the long-term, you gotta be in physical shape to acquire a following online. Regular delivery.

"the most vivid, poetic examples of hostile worlds aren’t found in the obvious genres—the ones with the word “dark” in their name, etc.—but are rather the forbidden planets of the 50s and 60s avant garde"
