The whodunnit aspect is actually the least interesting part of the case as far as I'm concerned. I don't know if you've ever had a murder happen outside your living room window? If you have, then you'd know that the police and press investigations can shine a light where it is not wanted - people in the vicinity who are unconnected with the original crime will scramble to cover up whatever nefarious activities they're involved in, all sorts of cover ups ensue. I believe this is what happened in Dallas in 1963.
