He's finally crumbled after being dunked just one time too many.
I thought the Musk/Trump interview was quite indicative of the two of them losing steam by leaning too far into the fringes. Not sure what the (surely fake) numbers were, but Trump returning to twitter just as his poll numbers fall off a cliff, the technical difficulties getting a simple voice conference up, Trump developing a lisp for some reason, Musk being a personality vacuum as always.
Reminds me a bit of the end of scenes, you lean too far into the hardcore audiences and loose scene signifiers become codified, the ideas more generic, the outsider/fringe spectator loses interest as it pushes into more extreme replicas of itself
