Trump based his claim "In Springfield, Ohio the immigrants, they are eating cats, they are eating dogs" off a now debunked report and his claim was in turn (again, his words) debunked. Now maybe someone somewhere can find a Haitian immigrant who has eaten a pet sometime, but seeing as they have been desperately sharing a video of an American woman not in Springfield being arrested for eating a cat then it would be equally true to say "Outside Springfield, Ohio US native citizens are eating cats"....
The overall points are 1) Trump based his claim on a lie which meant he was foundering going "I saw it on telly" and 2) It was a really stupid thing to bring up at a presidential debate cos if it ever happened or happens it's vanishingly rare and is utterly trivial in this context and it made him look even more like the fucking idiot he is.
