Yeah, I think so too. Supposedly Kamala's campaign pulled back from that sort of thing, but it was too late because they're now associated with every annoying liberal or progressive people see on Twitter, on Reddit, on Facebook, etc., all the stupid, condescending workplace initiatives people have to sit through, and you can't shake that off overnight.

I'm sure if they do drop it then their supporters will quickly follow suit, but they didn't have time for that.

There's was a Dem strategist on CNN the other day talking about all this.

The worry is they decide they need to pull further to the right rather than listening to people like Bernie and remaining socially progressive whilst switching their focus to healthcare, housing, and so on and just dropping the sanctimony.

What I'm hearing, basically, is that the Dems lost for the following reasons:

They're too right-wing (i.e. not socialist enough),
They're too left-wing (I.e. PC/woke/diversity-obsessed),
They're too belligerent (supporting Ukraine against Russia),
They're too wussy (about China),
They're too racist (by supporting Israel's genocide in Gaza),
And their candidate was a brown woman.

They're also satanic baby sacrificing pedophiles that are setting up FEMA internment concentration camps for those that don't go along with their fascist, socialist new world order agenda that will require everyone be barcoded with the mark of the beast, but the joke's on them because if they ever do get back into power and usher in their Satanic new world order agenda, we, as believers in the true faith, we will be gloriously raptured to heaven while you suffer literal hell on earth.

I still can't get over the fact that someone had the audacity to say "basket of deplorables" back in 2016 when clearly the rules are that the GOP do and say whatever the GOP without any repercussions or mean name-calling when you react, but you also gotta behave and have manners because they don't like it when you act even a tiny bit like them, but then they're also gonna say that you act like a fake politician because you have manners, so you won't be able to win no matter what you do.
It's a Grand Old Party and you snooty, Satanic bitches are simply not invited.
Also, fact: Jesus was white. Santa s white, The Easter Bunny is white, and everyone ever good and holy was white.
Note: We might make an exception for a few people like Nikki Haley that proudly talk about their conversion to Christianity and share the good word about the Lord.

Yeah, that's pretty much the size of it.

I was thinking the same thing earlier, about how Trump and other high-profile Republicans can emit a constant stream of verbal diarrhoea about disinfectant injections, carcinogenic wind turbines, adrenochrome harvesting, Jewish space lasers, hurricane factories and pet-eating Haitians, but (per @william kent), Democrats have shot themselves in the foot by saying "Latinx", which is just silly, and defies basic common sense.

At this point I can't really blame any American who isn't a total cunt and/or moron for just giving up and accepting that the cunts and morons have won.

One of the big reasons that doesn't get talked about much, and people will have seen examples of it ("she's not Christian") if you were reading various comments sections during various live stream news coverage streams of the election:
1. There are a LOT of people that consider a person's faith VERY important.
2. Dems will never be considered one of the faithful.
3. It's less important if you're a white man (like how Donald Trump can break every moral and ethical standard) because you're one of the "good ol' boys".
It's also funny how he has the same gaudy tastes of evangelists like people that run megachurches or have or had popular televangelist shows.

Ultimately I think one of the major reasons they lost is their cultural appeal ended up being too concentrated on affluent people with socially progressive and secular views. Again, I think it’s largely a matter of optics, optics irrespective of the actual policies they adopted.

This is mainly an attempt to constructively reevaluate how the Democratic Party, and how social progressivism in the US more broadly, can more tactically orient itself in terms of optics and cultural appeal. I think too many people view the Dems as being out of touch, and if the Dems (and more importantly the louder voices in the Democratic cultural firmament) just respond by calling those people racist, then they’ll just keep digging a deeper hole.

There's also no need to talk down to people.
talking about how and why people lost doesn't mean that people don't grasp the magnitude
Trust me, as someone who actually lives here and is on social security and medicare for mental disability and lives with elderly parents that are also on ss and medicare, we will have to suffer the consequences of it (his cuts will make Social Security and Medicare insolvent), I DO grasp the magnitude. Do YOU?

edit: That was a response to a post that I guess got deleted.

Not to harp on Dilbert's mom, but that's something that really, and I mean REALLY, bothers me about single issue abortion voters.
Conservatives seem to only care about theoretical people - otherwise, fuck you.
The ironic thing is that in many places where he is most popular and where people are really in dire need of social services, like in West Virginia, they will get what's coming (or should i say NOT COMING) to them.

Not too convinced by polling in general and I don't know this particular polling company, but there's a poll I came across last night that recorded inflation, immigration and the culture war as the top three reasons given for not supporting Harris.

Hmm, well I've already addressed the inflation issue, but the numbers do look a lot like illegal border crossings have massively increased in the last four years. So I guess it's a hit and a miss as far as the top two reasons go.

Also sounds like the "Harris defeated by conscientious anti-Zionists" hypothesis is dead in the water.

Another factor with the Dems is they're trying to fight several things the GOP are happy to lean into and exploit, namely various phobias and forms of bigotry and the chaos of modern media. An uphill battle, to say the least.

because anti-zionism sooner or later turns back into Zionism if one cannot transcend it. Zionism/anti-zionism? no, communism.

The dems lost because they have their heads in the sand thinking that the old politics haven't exhausted their forms.

the republicans will also lose in 2028. their shtick will become much less persuasive, even if they manage to find an anti-politician in the mould of Trump (extremely unlikely.)

what the democrats need is an anti-political straight talker, but they cannot, because they are precisely dedicated to fruitlessly pursuing the idea of post-war American imperial greatness.

Politics is more like algebra than simple arithmetic.

A cataclysm is coming, a cataclysm akin to the late 18th century. and noone is prepared, hence it will steal upon you like a thief in broad daylight..

I think people vote for trump with the rationale of better the devil you know. Meaning cynicism.

But for politics to function properly it must at all time conceal its open secret of cynicism. The fact that the Republican party and even the dems cannot mount a successful campaign to curtail president Trump is indicative of breakdown more than anything. even the nonsense of impeachment was like their equivalent of jan 6th.
